Printmaking

I have vivid memories of a silk screen class at the local community college, followed by the start of a printmaking class where we made etchings on plates using acid. ʻoey vey.  I am back at it, four decades later, and enjoying the environment, a fresh start, at the local older adults learning program. Such a beautiful community. I am also in the moment taking stone carving, beginning painting, and ceramics, a bit much actually, this with my Hawaiian studies.

Session One

My first impulse, was to print in honor of pō, an all black print. The second, with ʻaʻohe, no ink, and from there, the story grew.

Session Two and Three

We were shown a particular technique, but my body wanted to use my hands and my feet as printing plates, from their the story grew.
